Greens announce end to backpacker tax deadlock and $100mil for Landcare

Senator Di Natale, Australian Greens Leader said today, “This is a victory for farmers who have been watching their fruit wither and die on the vine. Farmers have already lost tens of thousands of dollars waiting for politicians in Canberra to agree on an outcome. With this agreement, they will wait no longer.

Legislate to protect dairy farmers: Greens

The Australian Greens are calling on the government to act to prevent retrospective price decreases in the dairy industry, while the ACCC investigates. The Greens outlined this proposal in a letter to the Deputy Prime Minister and Shadow Minister for Agriculture in June.

"Dairy farmers are hurting now and swift action is required from the government and ACCC," said Senator Richard Di Natale, Australian Greens Leader.

Ban Junk Food Ads for Kids

The Greens will ban junk food advertising during children's television programming, on websites aimed at children, and via smart phones.

For years public health experts have been calling for a ban on junk food advertising to our kids. They have shown that junk food companies go out of their way to target our children because they know if they can hook them young, they will have a loyal customer for life.
