Greens’ spokesperson for multiculturalism, Senator Richard Di Natale, has disagreed with Minister Plibersek’s call for all children to take a citizen’s pledge.
“Let kids be kids,” said Senator Di Natale.
“You can’t force patriotism onto the community by making children rote learn a pledge.”
“Leadership that reflects the values of the community is the best way to inspire patriotism and pride.”

Condemns the personal invitation by Senator Cory Bernardi to racist Dutch politician Geert Wilders to visit Australia.

Calls on Senator Bernardi to withdraw that invitation; or, if not, for the Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. Tony Abbott MHR, to intervene.

Greens’ multicultural spokesperson, Senator Richard Di Natale, has condemned Immigration Department’s advice about onshore processing.
“The Immigration Department’s advice that onshore processing is a threat to social harmony is a return to White Australia thinking,” said Senator Di Natale.
“You could be forgiven for thinking it was an archived policy document from the 1950s.”

Greens Senator and spokesperson for Multiculturalism, Richard Di Natale, is calling for Tony Abbott to take urgent action in response to Senator Cory Bernardi’s most recent indiscretion.
Senator Bernardi has admitted that he offered to provide assistance to Geert Wilders, a known extremist who expresses anti-Muslim and anti-immigration sentiments.
“This is inconsistent with the expectations the community have of their representatives,” said Senator Di Natale.

Senator Di Natale's first day was spent productively, divided between engaging with media interest in the change of balance in power in the Senate, and setting up a new office. As the Senator prepares to take up his seat in Parliament on Monday the 5th, he spoke with Radio National's The National Interest and outlined some of his experiences and priorities.
