ANPHA backs Greens call to close alcohol loophole

The Australian National Preventive Health Agency has today released a draft report on alcohol advertising. Australian Greens health spokesperson, Dr Richard Di Natale said today that ANPHA’s report is an endorsement of the Greens position on alcohol advertising.

“The time has come to get grog ads out of sport,” said Senator Di Natale.

Greens call for Morwell fire to be declared a state of emergency

Victorian Greens Leader, Greg Barber, joined Australian Greens health spokesperson, Dr Richard Di Natale, this morning in Melbourne to call for the Morwell fire to be declared a state of emergency.

“The first responsibility of a government is to protect its people and that is not happening in Morwell,” said Mr Barber.

“The Napthine Government must cut through the bureaucratic infighting and take action to protect people. Lives are at risk.

“A state of emergency must be declared under the Public Health and Wellbeing Act. We cannot afford to fiddle while Rome burns.”

Build up Medicare, don’t tear it down: Greens

Australian Greens health spokesperson and former GP, Dr Richard Di Natale, said today that the Health Minister was misleading the public about a crisis in healthcare costs in order to dismantle Medicare.

“The Abbott Government’s plan to make you pay more to see a doctor is motivated entirely by ideology,” said Senator Di Natale.

“The Health Minister claims that health costs are spiralling out of control when in reality spending has increased only slightly as a proportion of GDP over the last decade.

Australian Greens health spokesperson, Dr Richard Di Natale, warned that today on Medicare’s 30th birthday, it has never been more in danger.

Abbott’s fear mongering on wind farms is dangerous and reckless: Greens

Acting Leader of the Australian Greens and medical practitioner, Dr Richard Di Natale, today criticised the Abbott Government for suggesting that there is a link between wind farms and illness by calling for the NHMRC to conduct more research into the issue.

Acting Leader of the Australian Greens, Senator Richard Di Natale, today called for Tony Abbott to condemn Liberal Senator Cory Bernardi's views after the release of his new book containing hateful and offensive statements. “The Greens condemn Cory Bernardi’s attack on women, workers, same-sex couples and Islam,” said Senator Di Natale. “Senator Bernardi’s statements about abortion, Islam, same-sex and single-parent families are truly offensive. The Senator is merely continuing his form as an ideological warrior lacking any intellectual rigour, insight or common decency.
