Greens hold Geelong budget Q&A in place of Tony Abbott

Australian Greens Senator, Dr Richard Di Natale, will host a budget Q&A at Deakin University in Geelong today.

“Tony Abbott’s attempt to shred Australia’s social safety net and make it harder for people to see a doctor will hit hardest in places like Geelong,” said Senator Di Natale, chair of the Senate Committee into the Commission of Audit.

“The Prime Minister has shown himself to be a coward by not fronting up to the Geelong community to explain his cruel and brutal budget.

Audit report a kick in the guts for families: Greens

The Australian Greens have today slammed the report from Tony Abbott's Commission of Audit which protects the big end of town while slugging families and low income earners.

"This is a hit on every family in the country, while Gina Rinehart gets off scot-free," said Australian Greens Leader, Christine Milne.

Commission of Audit watchdog report warns against health, welfare cuts

The Senate Inquiry into the Abbott government's Commission of Audit has today tabled a new interim report, which covers evidence presented on the effects of predicted budget cuts in the areas of health, social services and employment.

"The evidence received by the Committee directly contradicts the Government's line on the economy," said Senator Richard Di Natale, chair of the Senate Select Committee conducting the inquiry.

Commission of Audit Process Rigged: Greens

The Senate Select Committee into the Abbott Government’s Commission of Audit released its first interim report today. Greens Senator and Chair of the Committee, Dr Richard Di Natale, said that today’s report concludes that the Abbott Government was using the Commission of Audit as cover to justify the spending cuts it wants to make.

“The Commission of Audit is nothing more than a prop the Abbott Government intends to use as a justification for the cruel cuts it has in store,” said Senator Di Natale.
